The one core driver for me is, I want people to understand that everything they do matters. Everything we buy, consume and throw away all comes back. We live on a round planet. Just because you can buy a thing and you have the resources to buy a thing, doesn’t mean that you should. I want people to understand that every word they speak and every thought they think really matters. I want people to know, we are literally creating every moment of the world that we live in. When you understand that then you start to feel your responsibility in making the world a better place.
Today student anxiety and depression are at an all time high. Student engagement and confidence is at an all time low. The world that we are living in is not allowing a space for kids to feel like they affect their future. I think it’s very important to reach the hearts and minds of kids. I want to make one thing very clear – we don’t have time for our kids to grow up to fix our problems. I don’t believe creating these projects will change the world, but I do believe their stories, and sharing their stories will inspire and influence many others to be EarthWin. Many small, right actions, will make good change. Children are our strongest resource, not only for having an impact but for reaching other people, and especially their moms. The most inspiring thing today is sustainability projects – doing something that helps the environment– their community and their schools. The app allows for kids to get excited and enthusiastic and learning and engaging. And it gives us trackable data in an app with powerful story-telling in social media. We can fund a project in a week! We are turning it on its head.
